Myrna Phillips

Myrna Phillips was born and raised in Leon, Mexico. She worked as a teacher, specializing in English, Spanish, and Italian. She has always been passionate about helping others, frequently volunteering in homeless shelters.

During her time working as an interpreter for AAM of Mexico, Myrna had the opportunity to immigrate to the United States. Seizing the chance, she moved here in 2002.

Here in the US, Myrna worked as liaison for migrant farm workers. Later taking the position of lead secretary for El Sol Elementary. She pursued her LPN and began work for Bronson Kalamazoo.

Deciding she needed a career where she could put her children first and still incorporate her passion of helping others, Myrna became the Parish Manager for St. Joseph Parish in Kalamazoo. In this new position, Myrna implemented many new resources for helping the homeless and disadvantaged, particularly immigrants.

Currently, Myrna works at the ESL & World Language Department while pursuing a degree in Business Administration. She hopes to continue helping the less fortunate and plans to use the knowledge she gained from ELLAS in her journey.

Myrna loves spending time with her husband and children. She looks forward to each and every day! Myrna is grateful for all the opportunities she has been given.
