Michelle

My name is Michelle Marcella Salazar. I am a daughter, a soon to be wife, a sister, a dog mom, and a hard worker.

I am currently employed as Community Development Specialist with the City or Battle Creek. After a long career in healthcare, I realized my true passion (what brings joy to my life) is helping others overcome barriers from the American system. Overcoming these barriers allows people to tap into their potentials and thrive in a world where we all just want to be happy and free.

Through my work I am able to analyze policies and discuss changes that will bridge the opportunity/wealth gap between Caucasian people and "minorities".

My bachelor's degree of Science in Biology from WMU and my experience in pharmacy and hospital settings has equipped me to better understand the body and how it reacts to trauma. Through my personal experiences as a queer Latine woman I am able to listen and work with people from diverse cultures in individual, group and organizational settings while actively promoting equity and inclusion.
