Maria Serrano was born in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Maria has always been passionate about journalism. She was a student reporter for Solutions Journalism Network in New York City. She also interned at WSVN-TV, WGEN-TV and HBO Latin America. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
Maria graduated from Florida International University in December 2018. A month later, she landed a job at ABC 7 in Amarillo, TX. She was also selected to be a reporter for the 2019 New York Times Student Journalism Institute.
After two years, she landed a position as a TV News Reporter for WWMT- News Channel 3 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As of 2023, Maria is a TV news reporter in Orlando, FL. She is currently a court, crime & judicial reporter at Spectrum News 13 in Orlando.
Maria finds fulfillment and purpose in her career. She enjoys covering courts so much that she oftentimes goes to court on her downtime.
