Juliana C. Hafner

Juliana Hafner is currently the Program Coordinator at El Concilio, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from La Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Pontifical Xavierian University), Bogota, Colombia. Prior to immigrating to the United States, she worked as a Psychologist for a variety of NGOs in Colombia. Juliana joined El Concilio a year and a half ago as an Assistant Community Manager and shortly after she was certified as a Level 1 Certified Interpreter. Additionally, she is a Certified Facilitator for Exito Educativo from The Julian Samora Research Institute at Michigan State University and an active member of the 4-H Expansion and Review Committee.


Through her professional and personal life, she aims to be a voice for the Latino men, women, and youth in Southwest Michigan to build their community and gain the tools and knowledge empowering them to overcome the challenges facing immigrants in the United States. This is most evident in her continued involvement with numerous organizations, training programs, and events around the Kalamazoo region.


Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their adopted dog. Depending on the wild Michigan weather, they can be found hiking, snowshoeing or biking the variety of wonderful trails and parks around Kalamazoo.


Fun Fact: Juliana lived in Brazil for a year with the goal of learning Portuguese. This also means that she is Trilingual, speaking Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
